Cindy Becker, AIA

Construction Law & School Law

Cindy is a Dean's list graduate of the University of Texas School of Architecture (1988) and a registered architect with the American Institute of Architects (AIA).  While attending undergraduate school, Cindy interned for Hellmuth, Obata, and Kassabaum, Inc., an international architectural/engineering firm, in their Los Angeles office. Upon graduation, she worked as an Associate Designer for two years before entering Chicago-Kent College of Law.  For the next three years, Cindy studied law, practiced architecture, and interned for Stein, Ray & Conway, a  Chicago construction law firm.  Additionally, she served as a judicial intern for the Honorable James Alesia, United States District Judge, and the Honorable Thomas Rosemond, United States Magistrate, both of the Northern District of Illinois.  Cindy earned a Juris Doctorate with Honors (Moot Court, Dean’s List all semesters, and Who’s Who Among American Law Students) and has been admitted to the State Bars of Illinois and Texas. 

Cindy joined the school law firm of Schwartz & Eichelbaum, P.C. in February, 1994, where she specialized in school construction law.  In February of 1998, Ms. Becker joined Lloyd, Gosselink, Blevins, Rochelle, Baldwin & Townsend, P.C. where her representation of schools has continued as she has broadened her practice to include construction law representation for other types of political subdivisions, as well as private owners and contractors; and water law.  Her specific practice areas include: hiring of design professionals, contractors, and construction managers; drafting of contract documents; selection and implementation of construction procurement methods (request for proposals, competitive sealed proposals, competitive bidding), selection and implementation of construction delivery methods (design-build, design-bid-build, lease-purchase); facilities standards compliance; warranty enforcement; as well as purchasing; transportation; and indoor air quality issues.  Cindy’s clients also include the representation of non-profit water supply corporations with an emphasis on transactional issues.
