Environmental:

The firm's environmental practice covers virtually all areas of federal and state environmental law. Legal and
regulatory support is provided on issues including air quality, water quality, storm water, municipal solid
waste, industrial and hazardous waste, underground storage tanks, Superfund, environmental compliance
audits, environmental cleanups, and related areas. Defense of environmental enforcement actions is also a
frequent practice area. In addition, the firm is experienced in providing environmental audits under federal
and state audit policies and laws, and represents clients in compliance and enforcement situations.
Representative environmental clients of the firm include the electric power industry, municipalities,
aggregate and mining operations, wastewater treatment plants, municipal solid waste landfills,
semiconductor manufacturers, oil refineries, and other industries. The firm is actively involved in emerging
technology and global environmental issues, including FutureGen and other clean coal technology progects,
wind generation, mercury deposition and climate change.


Construction:

The firm provides legal assistance to private and public sector construction industry clients on the myriad of
issues that can arise during project development, after the post-construction warranty period , or any time in
between. The firm has worked on a broad range of construction projects including schools, hospitals,
community centers, courthouses, movie theatres, and custom residences. Assistance is available in
drafting and negotiation of contract documents, hiring of design professionals, contractors, and construction
managers, and selection and implementation of construction procurement methods. Other services include
the selection and implementation of construction delivery methods, warranty enforcement, and assisting in
lien filings and bond claims. The firm assists in the resolution of disputes arising out of the construction
process via negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and litigation.


Attorney Experience:

The firm's attorneys have substantive training and extensive experience in the firm's primary practice areas.
Erich Birch is a registered profession engineer in Texas and an attorney with seventeen years of legal
experience in environmental law. Cindy Becker is a registered architect and an attorney with thirteen years
of experience, primarily in construction law and school law. Angela Moorman has a masters degree in
environmental science and has over nine years of legal experience, primarily in environmental law. In
addition, Erich and Cindy are arbitrators on the construction panel of the American Arbitration Association
and are trained mediators.

The firm is centrally located in Austin, Texas, convenient to state government and the main offices of most
Texas regulatory agencies. The firm maintains memberships in a variety of professional and industry
